Good Morning Britain, The Apprentice, Masked UK, Love Island and Made in Chelsea win big at the 10th annual National Reality TV Awards which took place last night on the 22nd of July 2021 at the Porchester Hall in London.
The National Reality TV Awards celebrated its 10th anniversary. Love Island -The Winter Edition took home the Best Dating Show and Best Reality Competition Show award whilst The Apprentice was voted Best Business Show . BBC Dragon Den star, Touker Suleyman picked up the award for Best Reality TV Judge and he commented “I was at the National Reality TV Awards 2 years ago when we won for Dragon’s Den and to pick this award is truly special as this one is not just for me, it is for the whole Dragon Den team on and off camera”
Susanna Reid won Celebrity Personality of the Year whilst Cherry Healey won Best Television Presenter. This year over 3.5 million TV fans voted on the official NRTA website and to mark it’s 10th anniversary the NRTA, there was a celebration of NHS Heroes with the introduction of a brand-new category. The Best Health Service TV Show category that celebrates television shows focused on health service staff, their experiences, and the NHS in general.

Long running NHS Staff Agnes Tong Diffang who has worked for the NHS for over 40 years received the Outstanding Contribution to Healthcare, an award which is as real as reality gets taking into consideration the past year.
Andy Bradshaw, Head of Partnerships at the National Reality TV Awards commented “ There is no doubt that NHS workers have been truly tested by the pandemic and that their continuing work is vital to our collective survival as a nation. The brand-new category Best Health Service TV Show is dedicated to shows focused on the inspiring work led by NHS staff”
The new category which has been introduced in lieu of the NRTA’s 10 th anniversary will now be a permanent addition to the National Reality TV Awards annually as it aims to encourage TV producers to highlight and celebrate the heroes of the health service through new dedicated programming whilst empowering the nation and TV Producers to be inspired to produce content showcasing these heroes who have always been behind the scenes saving lives.
Winner of this year’s Best Health Service TV Show include; NHS Heroes: Fighting to Save Our Lives, A&E After Dark, Stacey Dooley: On the Psych Ward , Saving Our Nurses, Life and Birth, Critical: Inside Intensive Care, Hospital, and Losing It: Our Mental Health Emergency
The National Reality Television Awards launched in 2011 and re-define the sub-genres that make up the whole industry of Reality TV with all categories nominated and voted for by television fans.
Over 5.4 million submissions were received for this year’s nominations. Each year all nominations for the NRTA are submitted via the official NRTA website by the public in January and the public decide winners of each category by voting on the official NRTA website for their favourite shows, celebrities or participants. This year’s nominations incorporates both 2020/2021 output since the awards had to be postponed last year.
